The CEO of Twentieth September Wears, in an open letter to Lai Mohammed, minister of culture and tourism, condemned the proposed plan. “It is wrong to try to bully your way into the Nigerian entertainment industry you did nothing to help build. It is absurd to say you will ban entertainers from shooting music videos or movies abroad. Abdulsalami: Maitama Sule told me to arrest him after 1983 coup Abdulsalami Abubakar, former military head of state, has revealed how the late Maitama Sule submitted himself for arrest after the 1983 coup. Abubakar, who was a brigade commander of the army at the time, said many politicians in the state were arrested. He disclosed this when he paid a condolence visit to Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano, on Sunday. “I was at my office when Dan Masani (the deceased) came with his luggage. He looked at me and said ‘why should you leave me alone when you have arrested all my associates? I want you to arrest me so that you can unite me with my fellow politicians in Lagos’”, Abubakar said. “So, you see the kind of struggle by people like late Dan Masani in order to unite Nigeria.” Abubakar said the nation had lost one of its heroes. “We have indeed lost an irreplaceable figure. 70 per cent of Nigerian celebrities are on drugs, says Okey Bakassi   Veteran actor and TV host, Okey Bakassi, has raised concerns over the alarming rate of drug abuse and its consumption in Nigeria.  The stand-up comedian said a majority of illicit drugs consumers are Nigerian celebrities. Bakassi made the assertion when he appeared as a guest on Emma Ugolee’s The Gist alongside African China and Sound Sultan. “Conservatively 70% of Nigerian Celebrities are on some sort of substance today. They have gone ballistic. You hear a lot of names- SK, Kush, Loud, etc. the names come everyday and you’re struggling to keep up with the nomenclature of it.” Bakassi, however, admitted that he also indulged in the act when he was younger, and noted that entertainers often take drugs to boost their creativity. “I did some of it too.
