EPL: Everton’s Lukaku set to join Man United – Reports
Everton have accepted a bid of £75 million from Manchester United for striker Romelu Lukaku, according to a report on BBC.
The 24-year old has been a target for Premier League champions Chelsea, with Everton demanding £100m.
But the Red Devils have just swooped in to steal the striker with a whooping £25m ‘discount’ from under the nose of Chelsea.
Everton had offered the the striker the most lucrative contract in the club’s history after he scored 25 Premier League goals last season but he turned it down, saying he wanted to move on to another level.
Lukaku arrived Everton in 2014 from Chelsea for £28m, during which time Jose Mourinho was managing the Blues.
Mourinho could now reunite with the the Belgian forward as a successor of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who left the club when his one-year contract expired at the end of the season, at Old Trafford.
And if this deal goes through, Lukaku’s arrival would suggest United cease their interest in signing Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.
